Dear Mom:

Here I am again this time I have a little news.

I have had a change of job, I now a fitter again. How it came about one of the boys left for home so I asked the Capt. If I could take his place as I was a fitter. That was last Thursday on Monday morning they gave me the job and I started work. It just suits me fine working around the machines. Our main job is to keep the machines oiled and greased and do minor repairs. The job is good as we don't have to work very hard, just keep going.

I hope to be going down to Torquay for a couple of days about the middle of the month if I can get a weekend & a 48 hour pass. That is when I am going to take the book down to Jill.

Things are slowing down around the laundry as some of the hospitals are closing up. If things keep on we won't have very much to do.

There are boys leaving for home nearly every day now. They are all boys that have had five years or more over here. The boys that have volunteered for the east go first then the long service boys. That puts me away down the list. The way things look I will be in this country for some time yet. If that is the case I hope that I stay where I am that is if I can keep my present job. I forgot to mention the job means I get my trades pay again which won't make me mad. It is only 25¢ a day but it will help.

Well I am running short of news and I want to get to the canteen before it closes.

All of my Love
Ted
