[Grande Prairie]
Dear Mom:
This will be the last letter you will receive from Grande Prairie. I am leaving Sat. morning for Halifax.
Your parcel arrived today safely. The bananas lasted about as long as it took three of us to eat them. So far the cake and cookies are still intact as I received the parcel just before dinner tonight but they will go before bed time I guess.
Many thanks to all for the pen and pencil set. The pen works fine as you can see.
As yet I don't need the wool for my socks or sweater.
Shirley's letter arrived tonight also.
You might tell her that it is too cold up here for summer uniforms yet. A couple of days last week they would have been nice. But this week is different. The sun is shining alright but there is a strong cold wind blowing. It sure is dusty up here now and it gets into everything.
The other day I went to clean my rifle and could hardly open the bolt. The dust has soaked up all the oil and then dried hard. It took me an hour to get it in working order again.
I finished painting at 2:30 today, started a week ago Tuesday. The job is not finished there yet. We have had a heck of a time getting fellows who could paint on the job most of them would last one day and that was all. They would have paint all over the place and make more work for us. There are only 2 of us that have been on all the time. The other fellow is a painter by trade (me a jack of all trades) but I managed to keep up to him and still do a good job.
Well I will close now I will drop a card or two on the way.
Love to all
Ted
P.S. I don't know which way I am going yet, if CPR will try to say hello to Gram I hope that I can.
Am keeping my sweater may send it later.
