Dear Bill,

Your two letters from India were very welcome. We were indeed glad to know you were O.K, outside of the minor accident to your ankle. That should help to keep you grounded a few weeks longer. You have certainly had a grand worlds tour so far. If only now you can keep whole and so return to remember and gloat over all your travels. That is our constant prayer for you. Some mail should be reaching you soon. Perhaps when you get to a definite operational base it will find you more quickly. It is nice to have mail coming to one regularly. When I was doing my 3 years in the muckholes of France & Belgium--I used to kind of envy the lads who seemed to have get lots of letters and parcels. My Dad was the only correspondent I had and I know I appreciated his letters. It kind of helped one to remember that you were really a person--not just a number among a mob of numbers. Of course I was older than you are and had become somewhat hard-boiled having been away from home for some years prior to 1914.

We are all pretty well here. You mother is as well as can be expected in her 6th month
