Mr. dear Mrs. Forbes

On our [?] home from Exeter a few days since I was extremely grieved to see in the paper the sad loss you had sustained in the death of your dear Donald. It stated no particulars. I fear it must have been something sudden by his being absent from home, most sincerely be assured do we sympathize with you all in your bereavement the trial is indeed a great one and may he who alone is able, support & sustain and bless you under the heavy stroke. We naturally hope that when our children have got through the difficulties of the nursery our anxiety will be lessened but it is not so, and we can only cast all our care upon Him who has promised to help us. We had a very sick house last winter but thank God all are well now, my boys return to College next Thursday, Gregory and little Sophie all at work, my two eldest have finished, fancy I have three girls taller than myself. We have had a lovely summer & the young people have had great enjoyment in the way of picnics, archery and august parties. Of course you have the game in Canada it is simply any one can play & it's very amusing. Is there any probability of your coming to England. I should be so glad to see you again. Capt. Fowell and all around me join me in kind love and regards to yourself, Mr. Forbes and your daughter.

Believe me Dear. Mrs. Forbes
Yours very sincerely
Theanna Fowell
