FEBRUARY 13, 1945

Dear Nan:

I am working until midnight, relieving the night nurse for the big event of the year at this hospital. You probably already know I have moved, and working at another hospital until such time as we set up again. Of all places for me to be working is the 'nut' ward. The poor things-so many of them are just sheer exhaustion. We like it here quite well, but of course there is nothing like our own. The event of the year of which I have spoken is the Mardi Gras, the famous old Southern festival. This unit is from the deep South. Have done quite a bit of sightseeing, but there is plenty to do yet. Am going on nights this coming Saturday, so will be out of circulation for a while. Had a letter from Eva last week. She seems to be having a good time, and still likes her work. Had a nice box of eats from Aunt Clara, so tell your mother I got my beans. Write me when you have time, and do study hard and make your grade. I wish I could see you all. My little nieces have all grown up. The paper is all.

Love, Frank
