Topcliff, England, U. K

March 27, 1946

Dear Mom,

I guess this will be the last letter I'll be writing to you from this side. We will be leaving here on the 30th, so I'm told.

Yesterday we anived here at Topcliff, not far from Leeming.

Last night, as usual, I went to Harrogate and spent the evening with May, having a beautiful time. It's going to be hard to say good-bye. I've written to the others that I know over here and have told them about my going home.

I hope the weather there is like it is here- sunny and warm.

Your letter of Mar. 14th came. It was the last that I will get from you, since any more on their way here will be returned home.

Glad to hear that you have a sewing room in your new house. If any parcels that arrive, after I leave, will be given to a pal of mine who is still at the Station in Leeming.

I guess my letters about my leaves will have to be completed when I get home. Yesterday I did send one of my letters to you- the one about my first leave to Ireland. I hope it arrives safely.

As yet I don't know how long Stewart will be over here, and I won't find out before I leave, since we will not get any mail while we are here at Topcliff.

Well, that's all for now until I see you. That sounds strange. I've only been here for one and a half years, but it seems that I've been away from Canada for five or ten years.

Love, Lewis.
