Dear Mom,

I don't turn over new leaves, but I did open a new bottle of ink

We had New Year's Eve off, and also New Year's Day, so naturally I went to Harrogate to visit May. We went to the dance at the Royal Baths, and had a terrific time there. All the people were enjoying themselves, and had the real spirit of the evening. The dance was over at 12:15 a. m. so I walked May to her home.

Incidently, Joyce sent me a pair of black gloves (in a box), as well as a shaving set. I'll be writing to everyone now that the holidays are over.

For now, Love, Lewis.
