Dear Mom,

In your letter of September 24th you warned me to "look out for English girls" since you see "lots of boys coming back with English brides,"!

Yes, I remember Angus MacKeigan, who got married overseas.
Well, the girls here definitely have their attractions, but I'm taking the attitude that there is "safety in numbers", so that at present I'm free and easy, and I'm sure that things will stay that way for some time to come.

On Wednesday I went to see the little (blond) A.T.S. girl who lives here in Harrogate. She's on leave now so she's in civilian clothes. We went to the Royal Baths dance, and this afternoon (Saturday), I've been invited to her home for tea at four o'clock. She even met me at the train, so we're getting along just fine.

By the time she goes back to her A.T.S. Base, I'll get my leave, when I am going to visit Ireland. I wish to remind you to send my ice skates. Thanks.

So long for now. Love, Lewis
