Dearest Audrey:
Hello darling, here I am, hope you haven’t been waiting too long for a letter. I sent word home that I arrived safe and sound; did they write and tell you? I won’t be able to tell you about our trip over, but that can’t be helped, I’ll tell you about it after this is over and I’m back there, which I hope won’t be very long. Are you doing what I told you to do? I am on ten days leave right now so I came up to Glasgow [section of page missing] your cousins and aunt and uncle. I am goin[missing] and find them when I finish this letter [missing] a good bath and shave. This is quite a [missing] I hope I don’t get lost, but, I’ll make out somehow. I got in here on the train last night and was it ever dark, wow, I made a few inquiries on where to stay and found a place in about half an hour. I was forever bumping into people and I wasn’t drunk either, it was like being in a dark room and going to find a pin on the floor. I’m having quite a time with the money problem but I’m getting it slow but sure. Have you seen Bob Wallace yet? The lucky guy. He sure was broken hearted. I saw him off when he left. I hope you feel better after seeing him and talking to him. Did he give you my love? I told him to and something else, sure hope he did.
Gosh honey I wish you were over here or vice versa. I sure miss you and all those slams. But, there will come a day when I say them to you and you will just have to sit and take it; well, I can dream can’t I? I wouldn’t care if it was the other way around just as long as I am back in Nanaimo with you. How is Maggie (your sister) tell her I called her that, and I hope it is a boy. I’ll bet Lou will be more worried than Maggie. Ha Ha. How is your mom and dad? also Lorna and Burnie.
Well darling I can’t think (no wise cracks please) of anything else I can say for now so will close hoping to hear from you soon. Give my love to all and say hello to the fellows on the Island. Give Bob my address and tell him I’ll write to him real soon. Please don’t worry about me drinking as that is the worst thing to do over here and I hope I know better than that.
It is nearly noon hour now and by the time I get cleaned up and out to your aunts it will be quite late I imagine, so, I had best get cracking.
So-long for now honey and I love you very much. O.K.?
Love and a Million Kisses
Bill.
