℅ B.F.M.O.
July 15th.
Dear Mother and Dad,
There will have been a fairly long gap between this letter and the last one I am afraid. There has been very little mail going out (and coming in). However last letter I had from you you had had quite a few letters. – Things must be drawing to a close very soon now. Everybody is going on doing their job but in the back of their minds (and mine) is the big question “When will we get home.” I don’t really mind staying out here. I have, as a Canadian been treated very well, really and there are many people in my squadron who have had only two or three weeks at home since they started five years ago while I have had three months altogether. So when I complain I do not feel right about it. – I cannot give you any news at all because censorship has clamped down. You are right about my ship. You will undoubtedly be hearing about us on the news. I will be with those who are mentioned but do not worry, please. I really do think that I will be home before the end of this year and I hope to stay at home when I come next. – I was very sorry indeed to hear about Phyllis’ house. I almost wrote to Pete [Rule?] to tell him a thing or two. – But if people are going to be like that well let them. It won’t do them any good in the long run. – As soon as I can I will send you more news but right now they say “No.”
Much love,
Hampton
