Dear Mother and Dad,

I have had a couple of letters lately from you and of course was very glad to hear from you. I got your three letters with Bud’s Captain’s letter, [?] clipping etc., all of which were interesting to me. I am so glad Patrick wrote to you but I did not realize that that would be the first you would know of my movements as I had told you a bit about them before. They have relaxed censoring a lot lately so I shall be able to tell you more. You can more or less trace our movements actually. Gibraltar, Alexandria, Aden, Colombo, Perth, Sydney and now the Sakishima Gunto where we are operating. I told you this in a letter recently but if you cannot find it on the map it is a small group of islands between Formosa and Okinawa (Okinawa is, of course, the place where the Americans are having such a terrible time. It is fairly hard flying but not dangerous. We have had some trouble with the Japanese suicide bombers but have suffered very little damage. – So glad to hear all the homely details of Mary Anne crying on the telephone, etc. – The big news of Germany’s end, I have not mentioned, that will make a lot of Canadian homes feel easier, I am sure.
