Diary

June 3 - Looking like rain in the morning but cleared up later. More mounted men were ordered north after Big Bear: 250 more, including the Shell River gang. A devil-me-care lot, all in the saddle and ready for anything. Orders for the infantry to move camp to better and higher ground tomorrow. The infantry brigade was made up of the 90th, Winnipeg Grenadiers, Toronto, the Midland and Port Hope, and the 92nd, also of Winnipeg, and artillery - four 9-pounder guns.
