My Dear Wife:

Your welcome letter of Aug 11 arrived yesterday, also one from Grandma. I was pleased to see that you are getting stronger and hope that you and the children are all O.K. by now. The sox have not arrived yet, but I guess they will turn up. This is some place. It is hard work to get a good sleep, the roar of the guns making an awful racket nearly all night. But all things have an end and I firmly believe we will be in Blighty (England) by Xmas

Had a letter from Jack. He and Jimmy are OK, Jimmy passing the rifle shooting as a marksman and Jack as a first class shot. How is Mr and Mrs Sam. Any more 500 competitions? I hope you took a chance in the Superfluities Raffle and won a prize. Who won Arbuthnots yacht?

Well, you dear old Sweetheart, I must close with Love and Kisses
Your Loving Hubby
