Dear Mom:

Here I am again, this time I am in Edinburgh on my last leave. Before I came up here I went down to see Mrs. Davis & family to say good-bye.

The weather was very wet all the time that I was in Torquay so I was hardly out of the house all the time that I was there. It was the best thing as I have a slight cold and it helped to break it up.

From where I am sitting I can see the Edinburgh Castle. If the sun is out this afternoon I am going to see what I can do about getting some pictures of it and the city. This is by far the best city that I have seen over here. The way it is laid out is grand. The old part has its narrow winding streets while [in] the new part the streets are wide and straight.

The only part of the city that is dirty is right around the railway, the rest is lovely and clean.

Another thing that I noticed is that the streetcars don't seem to make so much noise even the civilian cars seem much more silent if there is a reason for all this I have not yet found what it is.

When I come back from the castle this afternoon I am going to try to get out to see the Forth Bridge as it is not far I think you can get out to it on a streetcar or bus.

Well I think I will close this for now and mail it I will write again and let you know how I make out.

Be seeing you soon.

Love,
Ted.
