Dear Mrs. Hansell:
In receipt of your welcome and inquiring letter of the 14th., I can only say that I welcome any letters from relatives of the crew.
I have recently on the 14th Dec. received a letter from the Air Ministry on information received from the Red Cross.
Firstly, I quote the report which says,
"Report quoting German information, states that Flt. Sgt. J.A. Leach and five unknown members of the crew of the aircraft lost their lives on 27 Sept. ‘43"
As there were 8 in the crew it still leaves two missing. The Ministry, although they cannot establish my sons fate yet; thought it necessary to send this report to me. I know this will not be much to encourage or comfort you with. Also, I know just how anxious and worried you must be.
I know that should you receive any information of your dear grandson, you will not hesitate to forward same. As the tiniest scrap of information, regarding our loved ones means so much to us during our long anxious wait.
I can only say to close, keep hoping,
Yours sincerely,
(Mrs.) "C.A. Lindsay"
