Dearest Jim,

This has been a red letter day for us! Your parcel of books, letters, etc. arrived safely, also your Christmas gift to me which I have put away for the Day. Then today your cable came and tonight's paper has your name listed to speak on the radio Sunday morning!!! It never rains but it pours! This is a fine prelude to Christmas for us, so many nice messages and gifts from you. The Medallion is extremely interesting. I expect you are broadcasting while on leave and we all hope you had a wonderful time. Hope your arm is fully healed now. You surely have had lots of trouble with it. Had a few new poems of yours from Beth Henderson, we think they are exceptionally good. I sent Mrs. Barnard a small parcel but you would be wise not to get in touch with her again. We felt so grateful to her, she has been so good to you. I am greatly intrigued with Hilary's letters; she must be a rather wonderful personality. Had a letter from a friend who has lost your address and would like to get in touch with her. Please write soon to Mrs. W. Lees, 64 The Drive, Hove, England. Don't worry about our finances, we are managing fine, will write more about this privately.

I am the new President of the Legion WA. for 1942. Mrs. Fraser is 1st Vice. Mrs. Bill Hosler is secretary. My private secretary is typing this to you - she sends her love, but that's OK: she's a married woman with two kiddies of her own, another Mrs. Hosler! Mr. Foote is not very well again - he was getting along fine and then sat on the wet grass and caught more cold and has been very sic, been in bed for 3 weeks now but I hardly think he will get over it this time. Mrs. Foote got your letter of Oct. 21 and was pleased to hear from you.

God keep and guide and guard you at all times. Love and best wishes as always,

Mother
