My dear Willie:

Hi! How's every little thing? Fine I hope.

Oh gosh the fancy skates are perfect. I suppose you knew that's what Dorothy got for me. I really haven't had a chance to use them as much as I'd like to so far, because the Gallery has been open so many nights, not that I'm here every night it's open, but the night after I've been here I like to go to bed early. I feel beat right down to my shoe laces, after spending a day and an evening at the ‘morgue' who wouldn't. It really isn't that bad, but it sounds good, doesn't it.

I also want to thank you for the flowers. I know you didn't see them so I'll try to give you a description of them. There were half a dozen of the lovliest deep red roses, and a dozen golden coloured baby mums. Honestly they were marvellous, and you could smell them as soon as you got inside the door. Everybody says that you must be perfect, and they don't know the half of it.

Congratulations are in order right about here I'd say. I don't know what W. G. & I are going to do any more, because everytime we talked about you we always said "the Sgt." I guess we'll manage some how.

I'm going to get (censored) if anyone finds me writing a letter, you see I'm supposed to be working, but somehow I just can't settle down this afternoon. The sun is shining right through the window at me and it's a marvellous day.

Give my regards to Len, and let me know if he hears anything about Norm. Oh yes, will you get Jessie's address from him, because I lost it and I'd like to drop her a line.

Tell Doug and his future bride that I wish them all the best, and I hope the rest of the crew is okay.

Well sir, this is where I leave you, so until the next time, be good.

Love Hilda.
