Barriefield Camp.

Dear Mother,

Well, did you arrive home all right? The box reached me all O.K. and is still being much enjoyed.

I will not be able to get home this week end. Capt. Bygott beat it without getting leave, and dear only knows when he will get back. As a result I have to stick to the job. To make this more certain, all the other officers of the company will be away for the week end. Their applications were in after mine, but they could be spared. This of course means extra work for me, for besides the extra work of looking after the whole company, I have to take a Bombing class, as there is no other Officer of the Company on duty. this Class lasts for one week only, finishing up next Tuesday night, in all likelihood. That means that I will be at home early Wednesday morning, and if possible the Colonel has promised me an extra day at home.

All the Officers were inoculated today. As a result I am feeling fine – not. I have a peach of a headache, and everyjoint creaks when I try to bend. However I have to work just the same and the rest of the Officers are as bad. It has gone to Major Lech in great style. He is all laid up with his head pulled over onto one shoulder, and bent almost double, and he can’t straighten up. He is getting plenty of sympathy — of a kind.

How is Elsie coming along? I hope that she does not have to stick so closely to the house. That is probably partly to blame for the insomnia.

Well this is about all I have to say this time. So give my love to the girls.
