My dear Bina
Alec is here sitting by the fire in an armchair, he has been a week with Maud at Knock And we thought a change down to the sea would help him before we close up to retire to Knock for the winter, so he will stay here, till he tires of the seaside when we will all go up to Knock. Alec has still a month to rest, but I have just been telling him he may get longer. When he goes before the committee they may think he needs longer. Alec is longing to get back to the fight, but indeed in my opinion he needs a good rest, it took it out of him a good bit although he is in his usual good form.
Maud and Wellwood came down with Alec this morning, they returned by the evening train so Alec will be company, for us, and we will do all we can to take care of him, his wound to my mind was pretty bad, but Alec makes light of it, of course it is a thing of the past now and it is quite healed.
Maud says all he wants now is a wife and she is doing her best to get him a good one, but I fear it is no use, it takes two to make that bargain, and Alec wont be caught.
I have just been asking him to come and write to you, he seems to be so comfortable at the fire I cant move him. Our notepaper is all used up, so I have to right on scraps. We are quite in the country here, on the coast of the Bristol Channel, the steamers pass quite close to us.
Maud had some friends to meet Alec last week, the young fellow my niece Elsie is engaged to – he is Captain Davidson of the “Manchesters” he was wounded, but is getting better, and able to walk without his crutch now. Norah and Willie were there too, they are home from Courtrai (Belgium), where their home was since they we're married, they are quite near us at Knock, and have three darling little children. Alec and I had a short walk along the coast this afternoon, his wound is tender but it has healed well, indeed he wanted to walk further but I would not let him
How are all your people give them all my love. Alec sends love to all
Yours Affectionately
Ada
