Word was received in Ladysmith this week of the death of John Lapsansky, the result of an attack of influenza followed by pneumonia. The announcement came as a dreadful shock to his relatives and friends, who hoped to see him back home again soon. Deceased joined the Canadian forces in the early part of the war and had to his credit nearly four years of honorable service. There will be much sympathy for the relatives of the young man carried off in the prime of life.
