My Dear Friend:–

Here goes for a few lines this evening in answer to your welcome letter I received last week and really it was assuredly a sudden surprise to me to receive it but nevertheless it was a most pleasant one also. I often used to ponder over and wonder what was the reason you never wrote to me but I suppose you were too busy to think of a lonely girl away back in Canada Eh? You certainly have did some travelling, I would love to listen to you describing the places of interest you have seen. You bet you want to let me know when you are returning to Canada so I can go to the train to talk to you. I just would love to have you stop over for a day or so in Renfrew. Although it is not much of a town but then you know?? I bet you were the happy boy when “Peace” was declared but shouldn’t a person be at such news We had a great time celebrating in Renfrew, in fact, we had two holidays for on the 7th Nov. we received word through some error that “War was over” but later found it was the 11th for about 5 A.M. I woke up and heard all the church bells, whistles and fire-bell ringing. You will not be sorry to receive your liberty again. Will you? I was very sorry to hear of your health not being good but sincerely hope it is improving rapidly. I bet it was the climate of Africa that affected you. I certainly congratulate you on your good luck of surviving through this great war. You aught to be a thankful boy and I guess you are too. I guess you will be in London now for you said in letter you were going there this month. When you are enjoying yourself you can think of me. Won’t you? You said in your letter that you left Canada Jan 22. I can well remember the day you passed through. There was only a couple of us girls plodded in the snow over to the train to see you boys but I do not regret for an instant doing so. Well I will close for this time hoping to hear from you soon and best wishes for a speedy return to Canada. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I Remain, Sinc. Yours
