Dear Eira
Thanks a lot for getting me the “pressers”. They are fine. It seems to me that I am always bothering you for something. Thanks too for the box of nuts. I should have sent you a money order before but then decided to wait and see how much I did owe you. Hope it didn’t leave you too short at this time of the month.
I was to leave on the 25th but don’t think I am going now till the 2nd a least a signal came in the other day stating all those on draft to the H.M.C.S. “Peregrine” on the 25th for forward passage would not report till the 2nd. Probably due to transportation or some other reason.
We were very relieve to hear Lorne is not seriously wounded. He was admitted in the hospital on the 23rd of Sept. and we had a letter from him written the 25 saying he was getting on fine. He had got some shrapnel in the back of his neck. He hoped before very long to be back to his Regt. Had the cable stated “slightly wounded” instead of just wounded would have caused us less worry.
This is just a note as am writing at the office. Have the afternoon off and a long weekend, so want to get this off to you to-day.
Thanks again for all your trouble and will drop you a line soon as I get to Newfie. Will likely be in Halifax a few days and will take 6 days to cross. Bye for now.
Lots of Love
Peg
