France July 26/17.

Dear Mr. Irwin,

Many thanks for your kindly welcome letter which I receved this afternoon was very glad to hear from you, very glad indeed. I was wondering why I did not hear from you for a long time I think the letter got destroyed I’ve been telling you too much about the war and I think that’s why you did not receve my letter also I did send you two photographs of German prisoners did you receve those?

Receved a letter from Karl for days ago he expects to come out to France very soon

Very sorry that you did not receve my letter as I wrote you a very nice letter of my experience at the front and how I wounded & captured German prisoners.

I answered your letters the same day as I receved it.

Do you think that there is going to be Conscription in Canada I suppose the Slackers are a little scared these days. I suppose Harvesting is starting by now. Was out for a rest for 25 days and going back into the lines to morrow, start the dirty work again

It is a pity of missing that case which you missed of Mimie Burns. I, think I’d like to listen to a case like this is theft & forgery.

The weather was very good out here until 2 days ago but it start to rain just now

Well I think that is about all I’ve got to say for just now hoping to hear from you soon again.

I remain yours

Very sincerely

Louis
