 Dear Mother;-

Just a few lines to say that I sent a parcel with two badges by registered mail intended for you and Nora.  Yesterday was payday and I spent nearly half my pay.

Everything is so uncertain about this war that I can’t say what I shall be able to do.  I was in hopes of being able to go to Edmonton for the fair there, but all applications for passes are being turned down.  It seems by what they say that no passes will be given until the fair is over.  However I shall put in my application.

I don’t have much time just now to write so shall try to get this off on this afternoon’s mail.  I remain,

 Your Loving Son,
Earl
