Mrs. Henry Johns,
Elimville, Ont.

My Dear Mrs. Johns:-

We have just received a letter from Mr. W. G. Medd, enclosing an assigned pay cheque for $15.00 to be applied towards our work for our Canadian soldiers overseas. This cheque, he informs us, is the last assigned cheque of your son, Private Earl Johns, who was killed in action in France on September 12 th last, and is sent to us by you. Permit me to say that we are very deeply touched by this gift. Our heart goes out in deepest sympathy to you in your sorrow and loss. We pray that the Heavenly Father may minister to you comfort and strength.

I enclose copy of another letter received a few days ago in which I know you will be interested, also copy of a recent publication called "Y.M.C.A. War Work", the latter under separate cover.

There are few homes indeed that are not robbed of their treasures through this terrible war. The sons of many of my friends have made the supreme sacrifice and one of my own boys has been a prisoner of war a year.

Sincerely yours,

Tim [?]
Secretary

Treasurer's acknowledgement herewith.
