Letter

4th September, 1944. Mrs. E.V. Fitzgerald, 2317 Maple Ave., NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. 4th September, 1944. Dear Mrs. Fitzgerald: As an R.C.A.F. Chaplain overseas may I extend to you my deepest sympathy in these trying and anxious days through which you are passing. It was with a feeling of deep regret and sorrow that I heard your son, Sgt. John E. Fitzgerald was reported missing after air operations on the 26/27th of August. I join with you as you hope and pray that he is safe, and that you will have word concerning him soon. As I visit the squadrons from day to day, our Canadian airmen are a source of great inspiration to me. They are doing an excellent job, sometimes under the most trying conditions. May God give you strength, courage, and hope to endure through these long dreary days and nights of waiting, until definite word of your son is received. Personally, I have no further information than that which you have already received but I can assure you that you will be informed immediately any news comes through. Yours Sincerely, S/Ldr. C.C. Murray, C-7726 (Chaplain), R.C.A.F. Overseas.
