Dear Mom.

Here it is the last day of March and nothing doing yet. I do wish something would happen; anything to break the tiresome monotony of this camp. I am going away on leave next week-end; down to Brighton and I hope I'll feel better after that. I have not been away since Jan. 3rd and that is a long time. Mrs. Lees has invited me to a very big party she is giving for her son - Bobby who is in the RAF.

To think that tomorrow is April Fool's day. Doesn't that bring back memories? Do you remember when we lived on the farm at Killarney. One morning Dad called us all out of bed at six AM saying "Come and see the deer down by the pump" and how gleefully he shouted "April Fools!!" when we all came trooping down in our night gowns. I don't know why I have remembered that so vividly but it seems as though it happened yesterday...or tomorrow.

There is not much more that I can say. I have not caught the measles yet. I guess my dreams of seven days sick leave were just dreams. Your letters and parcels are coming in and all my friends seem to have remembered me well. I have eleven pairs of socks now. Must close and get this in the mail:

All my love to all,

Jim
