My Dear Betty & Kiddies,

It is 5 P.M with you & I can just picture you & the kiddies at supper in the little kitchen I wish I could sit in with you but that is something I look forward to, won't it be a great day when we return? Well, our stay here is to be a short one, we leave St John on Sunday evening, one train pulling out at 7 P.M & the 2nd: 7:30 P.M. We go to Halifax & I suppose right on to the boat Monday "Olympic" & expect to sail Tuesday Nov 14th We shall not be more than five days crossing, so you can be thinking of us landing somewhere in England Sunday or Monday 19th or 20th My I do hope that I shall receive a letter from you before we leave Saint John it seems a long - long time to hear nothing from or of you. I am on Picquet Duty to night, that is I take a Corpral & 25 men about 10 P.M & slow march them through the streets of the city until about 12 midnight rounding up the absentees - drunks etc, I am going to mail some views of Saint John for the children this evening or in the morning How's Mattie remember me to her, my fondest love to you dear & the kiddies, hugs and xxxxx "Good night" may God bless you all & keep you in His loving care
