Dear Mother

Dont be anxious about me I am in good health my left hand is a little sore from a hurt will soon be healed been in here about a month soon get out all right but my first finger is nearly healed up I sent some more old stamps they are hard to get I have sent three in Joe's letter over 100 years old well everything is Just the same

Tell Bertha & Maggie that I am going to get them that silk make their dress & ask maggie how many yards it will take to make them for it will not cost me much to get it for I have enough to buy it and in the country where it is made the out post's were fired on last night but no further trouble yet we are guarding the base of supplies while we are here there is a lot of men here there are lots of blacks here they are Lulus and Baurtoes friendly to Britain.

not much change we hear nothing dont know when we will start for home our Regt is north of Pretoria at a place called Belfast line of communication work hope Maggie & Nellie are well how is willie getting along hope Maggie & Bertha learns the Basuto language enough to read that letter I sent them it is a comical one give my best respects to all I close with love to all
