Dear Mom & Dad,

I received your most welcome letter yesterday and I was going to answer it last night, but we ran into some snags at the field and had to work till ten o'clock. I got a letter from Jim the other day written Jan. 8, but I haven't had a chance to answer him yet. I owe an awful lot of letters. Thanks for sending those things. I sure need them and will be glad when they come. Was that the "Spectator" horoscope you mentioned? I wouldn't mind a few fortunate changes but I don't care so much about making new friends. I'm satisfied with the ones I have now. I'm glad to hear Cliff was able to get home. I owe him a letter too, by the way. So Jim's bowling with the fellows, eh? What I wouldn't give to be doing that. I wish they had bowling alleys over here. The English haven't got a clue on recreation. I still think of this camp, the service, and the country in general terms that I couldn't write here but I don't let it get me down any more. I get my 48 every ten days and Mary and I enjoy ourselves a little bit. I'm looking forward to the summer. It still appears that my earliest chance for repat will be Sept., and if you are selling the place and moving, it doesn't really matter when I come back because it won't be like being "back home," but don't think I won't be glad to be with you again. I would like to see how you've fixed the place up. Why don't you just rent the place so you can comeback if that new job is not as good as it sounds? But I suppose it must be good or you wouldn't take, would you, Dad? Well time is short and paper is done so hoping you are both in good health and that I hear again from you soon. Your loving son,
Joe.
