Dear Moo & Dusty:--
Well, here it is the last day of the old year, and I sure hope the New Year will bring us Victory & a cessation of war in this war-torn world of ours. What say you!
I trust that you all had a lovely Christmas & that Santa was good to Janet & Sue. I hope Vern sent you a present or two from me, as I asked him to get them for me & send them down with theirs.
I was recalled from my spot of leave & sent up to the big city on bomb damage. It's a vastly different place now, than when I was here 6 years ago in the piping days of peace, sight-seeing. However it's a rather interesting change from my life of the past year & a half.
I just found out that my Col. is an old friend of Dad's, and that they worked together on many jobs in B.C.; we had a great old chat about good old Vancouver & all the different jobs we'd been on. I think Mum must have met him, when we were young kids.
I still haven't received Mum's & Phyl's parcels, so it looks as if the old Jerry must have copped those. I don't mind for myself, but I do for Carol's sake -- because I had hoped to send her another parcel for Xmas.
I was lucky, I got a day off, over Xmas, so I popped down to see Les & Cis, & had a lovely Christmas dinner. It was grand & Babsie enjoyed herself thoroughly.
I trust that you all had a good one. Ah well, my dears, my best wishes to you all in the New Year & may you all have your heart's desire. Please give Janet & Sue a big kiss from Uncle Dick. Tons of love,
Your affectionate
brother,
Dick.
