My darling girl

I got two of your letters last night, one dated March 26th the other April 4th. And so Gwladys has got another little girl. I think we both decided that something of that kind was in the wind. I roared when I read Lloyd's letter to Frank as you say he certainly is original.

I guess by this time you will have got to your little cottage I hope you will be very comfortable. Bye the bye girlie I have stopped numbering my letters as I couldnt remember what numbers I had written last however as I write every other day you can tell by the dates whether you are getting them or not. At the present time we are billetted [sic] in a French village, this [sic] officers of this Cy are living in a Chateau, oh yes, but it is the cellar, as the upper part has been blown to pieces by shells, in fact there isn't a house in the village which is intact, this was done in 1914, very few shells have dropped here since our arrival. There are several big guns here & they certainly make a hell of a row when they open up. I am attached to "D" Cy there are six other officers & they are a nice bunch, in fact its like a big family, we live & eat together, & any officer who gets a parcel makes it the common property of the mess, bye the bye you might send out a parcel once in a while. We are going out into the line tomorrow night. Well darling this is all this time am answering Frank's letter or rather note. Fondest love to you & the bairns, love to all at the Cross.

Your loving,

Jim
