My darling girl,

Have not yet had any of your letters, cant understand it, on Thursday I took a draft of men to the Battalion who had just got out of the Line, enquired for mail there for me but none had arrived, I hope you are addressing them right so in case will just put down how you address them
Rank. Name.

5th Battn
Canadians
B.E.F.
France

I walked back here the same night after delivering over the draft, as they were short of billets, left their billeting area about eight it was a beautiful moonlight night, enemy aircraft were buzzing around, anti-aircraft guns firing away, also our own aircraft were up. That same night our front line fired over into the Bosches about 6,000 drums of gas after which believe me there was some bombardment which lasted pretty nearly all night. I expect to join the Battn in a few days they are out of the line at present for I think two weeks, unless they call for the Canadian Corps to help out where the Germans are attacking.

Of course I dare not tell you the front we occupy. You might puzzle out the word some place in this letter but it will not have a capital letter.

Hope you got comfortably settled, fondest love to kiddies & yourself. lens .

Your loving hubby,

Jim
