Dear George
I received your letter about eight days ago saying that you received the box which I sent with my old badges in and pleased that you like them and I hope you take good care of them. Tell mother that I have been expecting a letter from her to say if she got that registered letter which I sent away the same time as your box. If she knew how I look for the letters from home she would write oftener. We are in the trenches just now and I am feeling fine but cold. The ground is covered with snow and the mud is froze up so it is much nicer getting around. You remember when we were leaving Toronto that red-haired fellow, Tom Gilleard that was leaning out the same window as I was, well he got killed last night poor fellow.
I was glad to hear that you had a good time and got so many nice presents at Christmas but I suppose you are back at school again. Did you get a pair of skates this winter or not. I had a letter from your Aunt Belle today. They were all well. This is about all I have to say at present. Hoping you and mother are well. From your loving father
