July 3 - Serious news of our Colonel: unconscious most of the night. I went to him at 10 a.m.; doesn't know anyone now. Weakening fast. Took my turn looking after him through the day. Orders for home came suddenly, as word came that Big Bear had been captured by the Mounted Police.
