Dear Father:-

Recd. Sade's letter today and was glad to hear from home.

You will find inclosed $40. We did not get the full amt. of check, they kept part back for uniform. I got check cashed because I wanted a dollar or two. They have been so long giving us our clothing that we had to buy a few things. Hope you will receive this safely.

To our disappointment Ervin has been discharged on acct. of his feet. Rheumatism has set in. He doesn't know whether he will go back to Musq. or not. He says he wont go to his home, that is to "Heu's." Can't find much satisfaction about Kent, whether he is turned down or not, [?] Kent was in this morning.

How is business? Sade said your cold was still hanging on, colds seem to take ahold hard this fall. Munroe has one that he has had ever since he came in.

They give us an hour of physical drill in the morning. Then we drill from 9 o'clock to 12, with rests now and then. We fall in again at 2 o'clock to 4. Supper at 4.45.

Am sorry we like our officers fine; our Capt. is a first class gentleman, he tries to make us as comfortable as possible. He is gradually getting us fine grub. We like our Lieutenant and he likes us.

They are going to keep part of the Batt. on the common and the other half in the armouries. They have started to build little huts on the common, that is "sleeping" huts, we will all eat in the armouries, where we do now.

Well, hoping to hear from you soon I will close.

Your Aff. Son Spence.
