My Dearest

Many many thanks for your splendid long letter that arrived yesterday. Like the last one it was a long time on the way. I think you must have misunderstood me when I told you I was transferred to No. 1 Sect. That does not mean the 1st D.A.C. you know. I am still in the same outfit but attached to another Section. It is very possible that I may soon have to go to the section but until then my address is exactly the same as before.

I shall be sorry to have to leave Hd. Qtrs. because it is such a snap. I don't like the idea of those regular parades & all the regimental stuff I would have to put up with. By the way, what made you send me that picture out of the paper? Did you think I was in it? I'm afraid I must plead innocent. I don't know who the fellows are, perhaps they are Yankees, but anyway if the picture was taken out here it is plain to see they have not been here very long, can see that by their uniforms.

I am glad to hear Legay has joined the C.A.M.C. it is a pretty good outfit. I guess you will be seeing him before long. If he hurries up he will be in at the finish. The news in the papers seems a little more hopeful, I really think it will be over soon. Oh I do hope so, I am longing so much to be back with you, it will be dreadfully disappointing if we have to stay here next winter. Well good-night Dearest
