My Dearest

Many many thanks for your dear letter, I wonder how much longer I shall have letters addressed here. It seems much longer than a month since I came here.

There may be better hospitals than this, but on the whole I have had a pretty good time. They might keep the place a little warmer, apart from that it is very comfortable.

Yesterday afternoon we went for a long ride into the country in a motor-bus, the day was very dull though, & we could not see very much. Dearest, if you like that photo I had taken in Folkstone I guess it would be alright to have some taken from it, but perhaps I will get taken again when I come home. Of course, you can take me, can't you? You wanted to the last time I was home, but it got missed somehow. I want to take your photo too, but so don't let us forget it this time.

Dearest I wish Jack could be home when I come, but perhaps he may be if it is near Xmas. There ought to be a "best man" does there not? Perhaps it does not matter. Really Dearest I don't know much about a wedding ceremony, I cannot remember the last one I was at, & then of course I was just a looker-on. Dearest I would like ours to be just as quiet as possible, without any fuss.

Dearest, the doctor has just been, & this is my last day here. I am going to the Canadian Hospital at Basingstoke to-morrow, it is not far from here, I fancy we came through on the way from Southampton. It is scarcely likely they will want to keep me there long but I ought to manage a couple of weeks or so, & then work my leave for Xmas.

Bye-bye my Dearest for the present
Lots & lots & lots of love & xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
from Yours only & forever
