[sent on a postcard with poem on front:
“TO MY FRIEND AT THE FRONT
I’m proud of such a friend as you,
Who left your kith and kin
To serve your King and Country’s cause
Amid the battle’s din
You may not gain the “D.S.O.” or coveted “V.C.”;
But you’ll do your level best, I know.
Then here’s “Good Luck” from me!”]

Dear Friend –

I hope you get safely through the big battle that is now on.

I was awful sorry to hear the sad news of George, and hope you shall be spared to return before long. For i think your mother must miss you more than ever now.

I’ll wright a letter soon.

Good Bye -
Crissie
