Still Another Falls Man is Decorated By Royalty For Active Field Service

Niagara Falls, Ont., Sept. 13. –
Major Charles H. Vandersluys of this city has the distinction of winning the Distinguished Service Order. Announcement coming from London, England, today that he was among the list of Canadians invested by King George at Buckingham Palace.
Major Vandersluys has been overseas since the commencement of the war. For many years he was attached to the 44th Regiment and upon the outbreak of the war at once volunteered for active duty going to the firing line with the first contingent of 30,000 men who sailed from Canada’s shores in 1914. He distinguished himself on the battlefield and was promoted to the rank of Major and has been in France ever since.
His wife is at present in England having gone to the old country about two years ago.
