My Dear Nerta.

Well Old Dear, how are you hitting it, Well I hope. (Capt. Brock has just come in the office, he arrived last night). I am having it rather easy, till we pull out, and am finishing off a good bunch of pictures. I just finished off a set for Floss. Will tone them to-night likely. I will try to run off a full set – excepting 2 groups and “portraits,” and send them to you, then you can take them home sometime when you are going. I don’t know how much longer I will be here, so don’t know just how many I will get off.

I had a letter from Dad yesterday, and was glad, believe me, to know that he is not seriously ill, as I was worrying, going away made it so bad for me.

I have two letters from you, one written on the train.

Bobbie is coming down on Friday, I expect, to spend the weekend with me, before I go away. I will likely be pretty busy then.

Glad you had a good holiday while home. I will not be sorry, when I get back, believe me, although I have been most comfortable while here.

What did you do with the furs you bought in Toronto? I did not know you had a new set.

It would be nice if you could get a single room, or get in with one of the girls you know, too bad none of the girls that you chummed with at home, are there, but it does one good to make new friends, I have found that out since I joined the army.

I am sorry I wrote on the wrong diary page. Thought I was watching that part of it. I may not be able to send diary pages home after I arrive in France(?), but will keep my diary up just the same. Another thing, my letters will likely be uninteresting, as every letter will be read. Don’t ever mention films or pictures, but if I can, I will take some from time to time, and hold them there till we return. I will not attempt to make any prints, nor to send any prints out. I may, or may not develop the negatives, as the opportunity presents. I will simply say, send me six (or twelve) rolls from Spencer, that will mean 2¼ x 2¼ square. Also the developer I use is Burroughs Wellcome (the English drug firm) Pyro-Soda – in tabloid form. I may have you send me this sometimes in parcels, but of course don’t declare it. If the druggists have not it in stock, they will order it for you. Pyro; Pyro-Metot and Pyro Soda, are all good, but Pyro-Soda is the best, and the one I prefer to use.

When I send my photographic outfit home, I will give you what information I can, and there will likely be a few plates and some paper, and you can get Mr. [Pollard?] to explain a few details, and learn to use the machine in your spare time, because you may want someday, to take some large pictures with it, and it provides complete relaxation from all your studies and work.

I am afraid I will have to cable home for another £5/-/-, as my £10/-/- check has not come thro yet, and I will need to be well provided going to France, as we only draw about [?] per day. I should have a nice little amount laid up when I return from o’seas.

Your loving brother
Worth.
