My Dear Daughter

I wrote to mama yesterday and told her that I would send you something for your birthday, Well any choice of articles are limited, that is as regards sending through the mail, so you’ll have to wait untill the war is over and then I’ll buy you something decent. I hope you are getting along nicely at school, and that you are keeping well, and remember and set lots of eggs, because you’ll need plenty of chickens when I come home. Well sweetheart I wrote all my news to mama, so I’ll have to close, hoping you’ll get this handkerchief allright good-bye and good-luck to you from
