Dear Mildred

I’m awful sorry not to do better for you sis but I’ve been busy and sort of trying to make a cooker in my spare time so have been more than lazy. I did send mum a cable but couldn’t remember just what your adress was so this will have to take the place. I’m afraid my airmail letters aren’t reaching you so will send more of these from now on especially as ther’s not much to tell you. Needless to say I haven’t had any sea mail or any parcels but I received three air graphs from you Jan 5, 11, and 17th I think was the dates and two air letters one from Miss Martin and one from mum. Things have been sort of disorganized so I won’t expect anymore mail for a few weeks. I’d hoped to get leave and send you a money order but so far no leave has been given me and any I get now will be in a place where it’s not easy to send mail from in fact I don’t think ther’s any organized postal service anywhere near, weve been settled here for nearly a week so it seems like home now. We are still in a tent of course but there are some villages nearbye, some of Mussolini’s colonial villages. He spent a lot of money here and made a lot of improvements but war had ruined most of his efforts. I’m keeping well as usual and send best regards to you and John

Love –
Lawrence.
