Dear Mother and Dad,

I will make this letter and the next one my Christmas cards. I hope they get there about the right time. All my best wishes will be with you that day and again we will have to look forward to next year when perhaps we will be together. –

Mail has been very bad but that is because I have been moving around so rapidly. It must be six weeks since I have had letters from you. I have had some dated last November however but they really are not as good as if they were a bit more recent. – I have been doing a lot of interesting things lately. That is just to show you that I am reasonably contented but I cannot tell you anything about them – I think I can tell you now that I was in the raids last August against the Tirpitz. I cannot give you any details of course except that it was pretty exciting. I see that the R.A.F. have finally dealt with that ship so we need no longer worry about it. – I am still travelling about and am likely to be for some time yet so again if there are gaps in the mail you will know why. –

When is my little nephew coming. I seem to remember it as being February or some time like that. I hope I shall be informed at once as I must keep track of all my relations. – As I said before I am quite happy at the moment.

I find myself with a good deal more responsibility than I have ever had before (I still have not had my promotion but I feel that it will not be long delayed) I am in charge here of a bunch of young officers and it takes me all my time to get things done but I enjoy it.

Much love to you both and to all in Calgary –
Hampton.
