April 30/17.
Dear Mother:-
Another Sunday has passed and still no mail from home or any where else. I suppose I should not complain as I have had mail as late as Feb but I should have had letters dated early in March before now. I dont know how you are getting your mail from me but I am writing every week usually on a Sunday or Monday. The rainy season is still in full swing down here but I expect it will soon be finished now. It is nearly time it was as we have had rain ever since Feb 1st. The land is all soaked and water standing on the surface which does not help in keeping down mosquitoes by any means.
I am still driving for our O.C. and I hope I can keep the job for awhile as it is agreeing with me fine. He does not do much touring around and I have very little night work which job is much better than all day every day on the supply columns.
One of my friends here from Detroit, Mich. got three Sat. Eve. Posts so I have had some reading the last three or four days. These and Canadian papers help some. When I havent had any home papers lately.
Lorne Gleeson is as bad off as I am because he has had no mail for a long time and he has not received the parcel of underwear etc yet that you spoke of in one of your letters.
I dont know how long more we will be in this country but am hoping it is not long. As this is all I can write just now I will close with lots of love, hoping this will find you all well as I am
Your loving son
Harold.
