My darling wife

Received your letter of 26th all OK this afternoon. Am very glad to hear that mother got such a welcome from the kiddies, she would I am sure find quite a difference in them since she saw them last, especially in Eric as he was quite a baby.

I know the road you speak of, it is as you say much nicer for walking, shady lanes & all that, & not bothered with motor cars. And so you are riding a bicycle again, yes I guess its nice going down hill, but how about riding up hill have you tried that yet, would recomend [sic] it, it's a great reducer (ha ha). Pleased to know your little maid is shaping alright.

Well we made a move last Sunday, was in charge of a bunch of convalescents who had to come by Motor ambulance, so did not have to march this time. am very comfortably billetted [sic] with another officer in a small cottage, we have a bed each, which are a little short we both have to be crossways corner to corner, but it's a nice change.

Dearest you have never told me how you liked that Green Costume you bought in Guildford, should liked to have to have seen it before I left, now dont forget. Also tell me how Eric's hair is getting along. This is all this time, write long & often. Fondest love to all my dear ones.

Your loving,

Jim
