My darling girl

I have not received a letter from you since I last wrote so have nothing to comment on. We are still in the same place, expect to move into the line again in about three days. This is a very pretty part of France, hills & valleys, trees etc we are billetted that is the officers in an old chateau & on the whole are very comfortable, this is a beautiful warm day, am writing this in our bedroom, windows wide open & the band playing outside in fact everything is jake. Bye the bye I reported to the M.O. the other day & found I had scabies, however I got some sulphur ointment from him & have managed to get a hot bath daily & using the ointment I think I'll be pretty well rid of it before we go into the line. Did I tell you that when we were in the line last, every morning at stand-to just breaking day, a skylark would be soaring & singing away, in No-man's Land, the heavy gun firing, machine gun fire etc made no difference, our skylark was always there singing at the break of day.

Well darling I hope you will be moved into your new home by the time you get this & will be very comfortable & happy there. The band is playing "Loch Lomand" just now. Fondest love to you & kiddies.

Your loving,

Jim
