Dear Gladys

I now take the pleasure in answering your most kind and ever welcome letter which I recieved this morning and was glad to hear from you I am still in hospital and I expect I will be for a while yet I am not quite alright yet but I feel not too bad some times How is your mother and father and the children I havent heard from your mother for a quite a while. I could’nt believe it when I heard about Joe I was in a convalescent camp when I came down the line last august and I met a fellow of Joe’s Batt so the first one I asked for was Joe and he told me but I could’nt believe it. The last time I saw him was in July we were walking down the road together in a little french village that was when we met Ray Black & Billy Hearld. Well I suppose it will be getting quite cold over there now. We are having nicer weather here now to what we had this time last year.

Well Glady I think I have told you all for this time so I will close wishing you all a merry xmas and a happy new year

I remain as ever
Harold

Bye bye write soon
