Letter

4th LONDON GENERAL HOSPITAL,
DENMARK HILL.
LONDON,
November 19, 1916

Dear Sir:

Your letter, of 16th inst., re. your son, No. 63505, Cpl. A. Killough, late of our 3rd Battalion, was brought from France by my servant, who gave it to me this morning, with many others, which I am attempting to answer. Fortunately I am quite able to get up now, and correspondence is not a very difficult matter.

With regard to locations of your son's grave, I am sorry to say that the War Office regulations do not allow us to give any exact information of that kind. I can only say that the cemetery is a very good one and not likely to be injured by enemy shell fire. The grave has been marked by a cross, which I put up myself, and unless the unexpected should occur, it can readily be found after the war.

Articles of personal interest to next of kin are sent to our Pay and Record Office here in London to be forwarded. I feel sure that, before long, you ought to receive anything of that kind belonging to your son. It usually takes 2½ or 3 months for such parcels to reach their destinations.

I am sorry this is not a more satisfactory letter, but under the circumstances it contains the only information I can give.

Yours very truly,
D.V. Warner
