Germany, Dece. 8/18

Dear Byde:-

Just a line to-night to let you know that I am still alive. No doubt you will think me dead long before this it is so long since I wrote, but we haven't been able to either send or receive mail for the last three weeks.

We crossed into Germany yesterday, and haven't been used too harsh so far, although some of them give us a rather hard look at times. We have been travelling all the time for/ the last three weeks and still have a few days to go before reaching our destination. I haven't heard anything yet about when we are likely to get sent home, but harly expect it for sometime yet, not likely before spring.

Well I want to go to bed now as we are liable to be called anytime after three in the morning and I want a little sleep. Did I tell you that the trench mortars were disbanded?

Your Affec. Bro. Jim

P.S. I will write a letter in a day or too.
